Preferences Panel

Preferences by section:

GPS

• Connect at Startup: launches GPS connections when MacENCx64 starts.

• Disconnect when Closed: disconnects GPS when GPS panel is closed.

AIS/RADAR

Connect at Startup: launches AIS/RADAR connections when MacENCx64 starts.

VARIATION

Manual: Not selected, selected magnetic Variation will come from the connected GPS If the GPS panel is opened (via menu item "Connect" menu "GPS") and a current position is transmitted from the connected GPS. Selected, choose your variation amount in the picker.

UNITS

Select...

Set defaults for Position notation, Distance measure, Depth measure, Boat Speed, Wind Speed, and Temperature scale.

INSTRUMENTS

• Connect at Startup: launches Instrument connections when MacENCx64 starts.

• Set value types for Heading and Wind.

ANOTATION

Delete button: will erase all annotations (drawings on chart overlay) you may have created.

TRACK

• File button: allows you to change the default location of the track preferences list file (MacENCTrack.plist) to a different location. This is not recommended under normal circumstances. Reasons why you may wish to do this would be to build a history library of different track files over different times or create a separate track file just once while preserving your main track.

• Time selector (interval): Set the time interval you want the track position snapshot to be recorded. (See Track section)

POSITION ICON

• Controls the GPS icon representing your vessel and current position on charts. Appearance controls: Transparency, Color, and Size.

• Velocity vector: expressed in minutes draws out a bow sprit toward the direction of travel based on speed.

• Orientation Source: from GPS or Instruments.

ALARMS

• Distance settings for: Anchor Drag, Waypoint Arrival, AIS Proximity, and Cross Track.

• Water Depth: set depth for alarm.

• Notify With: Options for Audio and/or Visual alarms.

GRIB REQUEST

Email Address & Manual Checkbox: Default is manual. When checked, grib request launches your default mail application. If you use macOS built in mail app, you can uncheck this and put your email in the address field, then MacENC will send automatically.

DOWNLOAD MANAGER

• Default path to charts: specify where your charts are stored. Default is /Users/[your user home dir]/Documents/Charts.

• After Catalog Update, auto select: Check boxes for All updated, and or, All new.

• Checkbox to allow bulk update of all configured chart sources and charts.

• Update chart sources button. This goes on-line and updates our chart source catalog master file. Good idea to check this once or twice a year or at least before next sailing season and planning.

OTHER

Add new waypoint to selected route default. This supports the feature while in Waypoint or Grab mode, create Waypoint action automatically adds the waypoint to the currently selected Route. Uncheck if you prefer not to have this done automatically.
